In a damning article, the Daily Mail alleged the London-based designer said: "Her dress is identical to one of our dresses", before continuing on to criticise the fit of the dress and even Markle's wedding hairstyle.
One of the Duchess of Cambridge's favourite fashion designers, Emilia Wickstead, has spoken out following claims that she accused the Duchess of Sussex's wedding dress designer - Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller - of copying one of her gowns.
According to Keller, Markle had "some idea" for what she wanted when they first met back in January, and they both "quickly agreed on the ideal dress".
"I am extremely saddened by commentary that has appeared in the press and online over the past few days", the statement reads.
Emilia Wickstead stated that the robe worn by the Duchess of Sussex, which is rumoured to have value upwards of £200,000, was the identical as one in all her £7,000 creations.
But following the Daily Mail report and the quotes that were circulated in the media Emilia Wickstead has responded, claiming she was "saddened" by the reporting. Design is classic, not original to #emiliawickstead.
Seems highly doubtful to me that Emilia Wickstead would talk so critically & publicly about another designers work/very high profile client.
But Meghan's dress has come under fire from Katy Perry, who felt the former Suits actress' gown could have been more tailored to her figure.
She also let loose (heh) on Markle's wedding day hair - an "undone" low bun.
From there, she added on: "If you choose a simple design the fit should be ideal". Markle's Givenchy dress was white raw silk, priced between $250k and $400k, while Wickstead's is priced at a more practical $10k.
Is Diet Prada attempting to give Wickstead a taste of her own medicine?
One of Kate Middleton's favorite designers Emilia Wickstead has pointed out that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle's wedding dress was very similar to one she had designed-complete with a boat neck and long sleeves.
