Tetris Effect is set to take the simple game of Tetris beyond anything we've seen before. Tetris Effect supports up to 4K60FPS visuals, and optional PSVR use - yep, as is the deal with a lot of PSVR titles recently the hardware isn't required to play.
Enhance Games will be using its considerable knowledge of light and sound to create an experience where the music, backgrounds, sounds, special effects - basically everything - even down to the Tetris pieces themselves, pulse, dance, shimmer, and explode in flawless sync with how the videogame is played. One of those is a Zone mode that let's players stop time.
Over 30 different stages, each with its own music, sound effects, graphical style and background that all evolve and change as you play through them. He then went on to confirm that Tetris Effect runs at 4K in 60fps on the PS4 Pro and is playable in full HD on the PS4.
The game at its heart is still Tetris and it'll include several fan-favorite modes like Sprint, Marathon and Ultra as well as new variants like Zone which allows players to freeze time to either maneuver out of a potentially game-ending scenario or clear extra lines for bonus rewards.
Tetris Effect doesn't have an official release date at this time, but it is now slated to launch sometime this Fall.
There will be more announcements over the week, too, culminating in "An eagerly anticipated game coming to PS VR" on Sunday.
Tetris Effect will be available on the E3 show floor to check out, but readers are encouraged to keep an eye out on the official PlayStation blog, as a demo will become available at some point, as the game nears launch sometime this Fall 2018. No other platforms were mentioned.
