Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, the rapper known as XXXTentacion, was shot dead in South Florida Monday afternoon, according to local law enforcement.
Videos of what appeared to be Onfroy unresponsive in the driver seat of a vehicle circulated on social media Monday. He was now awaiting a trial where he faced 15 charges for alleged domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend and witness tampering.
TMZ first reported that XXXTENTACION was in Miami shopping for motorcycles when his auto was sacked upon during a possible drive-by shooting.
Dispatch audio obtained by TMZ contains reports of "several gunshots" and mentions a "possible drive-by".
An eyewitness to the shooting tells TMZ that the rapper had "no pulse" after being shot, but Variety was unable to confirm that report. The rapper was rushed to a hospital where he later died, according to TMZ and the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

XXXTentacion has had a controversial career, and was now awaiting trial for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.
Onfroy began rapping at age 15 and broke onto the scene in 2017 with his single "Look at Me".
The rapper was involved in serious legal trouble and episodes of violence, including getting into fights with fans, and had been accused of repeated instances of domestic assault.

Less than a month later, he was arrested on charges that he attacked his girlfriend, who was pregnant at the time, and was jailed, and later faced more charges including witness tampering.
