Naturally, when a player of Leonard's stature becomes disgruntled and consequently available for trade discussions, there are going to be a host of teams competing for his services.
Leonard's relationship has deteriorated with the Spurs' organization after ESPN reported that the former NBA Finals MVP believes the organization mishandled his quadriceps injury, as well as comments made by Popovich and teammate Tony Parker regarding his injury as Leonard sat out most of the season. Would they move one of DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry too?
Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post noted on Monday that, "The Philadelphia 76ers have consistently remained atop the list of teams expected to land Leonard".
According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, it is believed that the Sixers would have a hard time getting Buford to leave San Antonio for Philly. But, in the latest development, there's been some interesting movement on the betting front, as the Toronto Raptors now have the best odds to start next season with the superstar forward on their roster.
A new team has entered the mix as a possible trade partner for the San Antonio Spurs if and when they move Kawhi Leonard, and oddsmakers think there is a very good chance Leonard ends up with said team. That is, assuming the Spurs would be interested in such a deal. Also, teams will definitely want to hear personally that Leonard intends to stay beyond the 2018-19 National Basketball Association season.
So with the league seemingly at an impasse as this saga drags on, here's a proposition for a four-team, blockbuster deal involving the Philadelphia 76ers.
