Emirates flight 203, a double-deck Airbus A388 carrying about 500 passengers, landed shortly after 9 a.m. EDT (1300 GMT), according to the reports. "None of the passengers are severely ill, and they will be released and informed of test results in 24 hours", the CDC said in a statement, CBS Philadelphia reported. The rapper tweeted that he was one of 521 passengers aboard Flight EK203 when it was quarantined, and posted videos of the awaiting ambulances. "That did not happen this time".
"This is insane. Apparently there [are] over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I'm up top, it's a double-decker plane 380", the "Ice Ice Baby" artist said.
Passenger Larry Coben said CDC staff came onto the plane, and that everyone aboard was asked to fill out a passenger locator form, providing their contact information for the next three weeks.
The airline says about 10 passengers were ill and got medical attention "as a precaution".
New York City Mayor's Office Press Secretary Eric Phillips confirmed on Twitter that the plane had been quarantined after landing at JFK with sick passengers, and the mayor was briefed on the situation.
Passengers had gotten off their planes and were in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection zone at the airport when they began to complain of feeling sick. He said "early indications point to that as a possibility".
Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, used social media to share live updates of an initial report that dozens of people could be sick on his flight.
CDC public health officers were working with other agencies to evaluate passengers, including taking temperatures and making arrangements for transport to hospitals, spokesman Benjamin Haynes said in the statement.
Shortly after noon, all the passengers had disembarked the plane.
