Guardiola had already been having doubts about Mendy but after the France worldwide showed up late to treatment last Sunday, the City boss is now reportedly considering Mendy's future at the Etihad.
Some reports have suggested that the extrovert star was up to three hours late for the compulsory session with City's training staff and Guardiola revealed that he has spoken to him.
Guardiola was asked about Mendy's lateness in a press conference on Friday and he told journalists: "Yes, he was late". I know how they fight.
City strolled to the title last season, playing only for records over the final weeks of the season, but this campaign is shaping up differently, with Chelsea and especially Liverpool looking capable of providing a serious challenge.
The manager attempted to play down the incident and said: "It happens that players are late because they have to drop the kids at school".
Guardiola tried to lessen Mendy's transgression by claiming that traffic congestion in Manchester has been a problem for a number of his players recently.
"I expect him back when he's fit, which should be quite soon". Now he's injured again.
"He's injured and when he's deemed ok he's coming back and when he decides to play he's going to play. Every day he's having treatment", he said.
Coach Pep GUARDIOLA later admitted that AGUERO has been struggling with fitness issues lately.
"It's not important if he starts or plays a lot of minutes, he's part of the group", he said.
Sergio Agüero celebrates scoring Manchester City's second goal against Brighton. 'I think Phil likes to be here, the club has no doubt, the manager has no doubt.
