"That's been misunderstood. What I'm trying to say is, the question was [what] scenes I was most excited to shoot...and I was like, there's a bunch of stuff that hasn't made the movie". Hardy is giving his all to comically elevate material that does not deserve it, and that becomes especially clear when his dual roles start getting romantically involved with one another.
If you're interested in the story, here it goes. The first reactions to Venom are in, and they're kind of mixed at best. It's kind of astonishing how bad both Hardy and Williams (and Ahmed, for that matter) are in this movie, but Eddie and Anne are barely one-dimensional characters with nearly nothing of substance to do.
He also has two separate voices so that Eddie and Venom can converse with each another, a device which, in these circumstances, qualifies as a comic masterstroke - even though pickier fans have been quick to complain that the resulting slapstick is much too ridiculous for their taste. So Venom's origin is a vast departure from the lore.
Actor Tom Hardy is scheduled to make an appearance at a special military screening of the movie "Venom" Thursday at the Cameo Art House Theatre in downtown Fayetteville, according to the USO of North Carolina. The thing that we luckily had as a touchstone was just the way he looks in the comics. In honesty, there's probably about seven hours or more worth of footage of me playing as Venom and enjoying myself. The plot is so silly it might as well be a cartoon, and Tom Hardy certainly treats the material as such, but the film also feels desperate to break out into something much darker.
However, it appears that Hardy may be alone in wanting a second helping of Venom, as reviews have been overwhelmingly unfavourable. Venom doesn't turn up in full until nearly the hour mark and the laughs (the intentional ones that is) really only come in the film's final moments where we get the obligatory Stan Lee cameo.
After its main credits, Venom drops sequel bait with its mid-credits scene introduction of a famed Spider-Man character.
We're happy to tell you there are two credit stings in Venom, so stay in your seats until the lights come up. Even before Eddie is partially taken over by Venom, Hardy makes him basically into a weirdo.
Well-versed comic book aficionados will no doubt realise that Kasady is the first host of the Carnage symbiote - Venom's more powerful offspring - and the sequence ends with Kasady himself teasing that when he gets out: "There will be... And on top of all that, Tom is hilarious, and that was exactly what we needed to bring Venom to life for moviegoers". Hmmm... I think the '90s called and it wants one of its rejected superhero treatments back.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) and written by Scott Rosenberg (Pain & Gain, Jumanji) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), the Venom film is set for an October 5, 2018 release date.
