The altercation has blown up on social media with angry users labeling Klein "Cornerstore Caroline" following a string of similar incidents of white women calling authorities on a black person for seemingly unnecessary reasons. Now she is claiming she may have been mistaken.
Klein, who calls herself "white lady" several times in the video and told dispatchers: "Yeah I know, white lady calls the cops on black lady", said to the Post: 'I've been called racist before, and I'm not'. "[The customer] started yelling, 'Miss, you need to watch your son, he just grabbed my ass.' It was kind of amusing at first, but then she was saying, 'I will call the cops'".
BREAKING: This is the surveillance video of Teresa Sue Klein, also known as "Cornerstore Caroline" where she says a 9 year old boy sexually assaulted her. Many people took issue with the idea that a boy of his age would even understand what it meant to grope someone. The outrage escalated after the surveillance video from the bodega was posted online, showing that the boy, dressed in a school uniform and carrying a large book bag, did not appear to touch Ms. Klein."The little kid thought he was going to go to jail for something he didn't do", Mr. Littlejohn said in an interview.
Though Littlejohn indicated that he wasn't familiar with the family being pestered by Klein, he did reveal that Klein is known as "The Terminator" in the neighborhood because of the aviators she sports and her overall demeanor.
In the initial clip outside the store she can be heard saying, "the son grabbed my a**".
She also claims the boy's mother threatened her life and she would like to pursue charges against her.
"When she said, 'He touched me, ' that's when I was like, 'Whoa, no he didn't, '" he added.
'That's right, the son grabbed my ass and she made a decision to yell at me, ' Teresa says of the mother. After viewing the footage, Klein made an apology to the boy through the reporters present.
'There are security cameras outside of this bodega. She argued with the boy's mother for a moment before pulling out her phone and calling the police-telling them that she was sexually assaulted by a child.
Ironically, the bodega security footage is working against her case.
"Are you seriously calling the police?" says a female passerby.
Footage of the incident was uploaded onto Facebook by local resident Jason Littlejohn on Wednesday. As you can see the kid is crying and the mom is upset, ' he wrote in the caption.
Police arrived to the scene 17 minutes after she called, according to Ramos, but no report was filed as everyone had left.
"While I do not know the nine year boy personally, I can not go to sleep tonight without doing something for him", said Michael Skolnik who launched the campaign.
