Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of survivors who travel in search of a safe and secure home. It's not anything that we expect fans to necessarily figure out, it's just part of our internal logic.
A word of warning for those who have not seen this weekend's The Walking Dead. So that's kind of the context we used for these hallucinations and these dreams. "Judith. Judith Grimes", she introduced herself after saving a new colony, before placing the iconic Sheriff's hat on her head. Hershel represents, like, a vision of heaven - a place to rest his heart. That the people he's fighting for now are still his family ― that's what keeps him going. We think this is a franchise that could live across formats. Didn't they see that he was alive? That wasn't the case, so Rick chose to blow the whole thing up, just in time for Maggie, Michonne, Carol and Daryl to watch in horror as he sacrificed himself for their safety.
