Today, Mike McCarthy finally listened, and the results were outstanding.
In all, Jones ran 15 times for 145 yards, a 9.7-yard average.
They won convincingly, 31-12 over an undermanned Miami Dolphins team, making marvelous plays but just enough ghastly mistakes to leave you wondering if an extended second half run is possible. Jones had a 67-yard run in the first quarter against Miami, the team's longest since receiver Randall Cobb had a 67-yard run in 2013. Now the Dolphins face Rodgers, who has thrown one pick this season.
"It puts the defense in a bind; it puts them to where they've got to load up that box and it allows us to have more opportunities outside", said Adams, who has seen increased double-teams this season. "We just need a little bit of flow and consistency, and I think that's what's going to get this offense moving in the right direction".
When the Dolphins tried to make a late comeback, the Packers came up with some timely stops and sacks.
Miami put up 131 yards rushing with ageless Frank Gore ripping off a 39 yard run on the game's opening series, which ended when a shotgun snap sailed over Osweiler's head and was recovered by Reggie Gilbert, ruining yet another scoring threat.
Gase said the team believed they could win on Sunday despite so many injuries, not including the ones that happened during the game. After a kickoff went out of bounds, Green Bay needed only five plays to cover 60 yards with Jones crashing through a big hole from 10 yards out. Mike Pettine knew that Miami had to pass on nearly every down and he was able to devise blitz packages to exert consistent pressure on Brock Osweiler for the remainder of the game. But with a mad Aaron Rodgers after the last two weeks, it'll be hard for the Dolphins to pull off the upset. With Jones taking some of the pressure off quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers scored four touchdowns in four possessions inside the Dolphins 20-yard line.
Miami (5-5) managed only four field goals by Jason Sanders.
Green Bay's defense made the afternoon a miserable one for Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler, forcing him into two turnovers and sacking him six times.
After the blocked punt, Miami had the ball first-and-10 at the Green Bay 28 but failed to pick up a first down and again settled for three points.
The defense lost three key contributors in this game included starting safety Kentrell Brice (ankle), linebacker Nick Perry (knee) and cornerback Bashaud Breeland (goin). Plus they take a quick ahead to Thursday's meeting with the Seattle Seahawks.
Rodgers was 19-for-28 passing for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The flag negated not only the catch from Adams, but also a penalty on Miami.
