We have heard a lot about Google's intentions of rolling out a Chrome Dark Mode, first for macOS and then for Windows 10. Google engineers started work on a dark theme for Chrome in 2018 and enabled it for Chrome on Mac OS X 10.14 and higher as a way for Mac users to use the system's Dark Mode feature in the browser. Turning on the dark mode while you are sitting in a room in the dark, for example, will be so much easier on your eyes.
The developer also admits that the dark theme feature has always been on the top most requested feature.
According to previous reports, version 73 of Chrome is going to come with support for macOS 10.14's dark mode, complete with an alternative color scheme, similar to the incognito mode in terms of looks, for the entire user interface.
That is not an official announcement, but Mr. Kasting has nevertheless confirmed that dark mode support for Chrome is in the pipeline. The browser tab and address bar have a decent UI, but everything else is a little broken - and that includes the profile menu, the main menu, and the settings.
Kasting's latest comment on Reddit confirms the Chrome team is bringing a dark mode for desktops. In a Reddit post, Mr. Kasting states, "For desktop, native dark mode support is in progress; in the meantime, we generally suggest people use a dark theme".
Tab Cards now only work in Chrome Canary - an experimental version of the browser that lets early adopters try new features first, and enables developers to see how their sites and apps will work in future versions of Chrome. Now Open your Chrome again to see the Dark Mode. This is unusual considering Chrome is utilized more on Windows than a Mac.
So, for now, its a great news for all chrome users that the native dark mode is set to be released soon in the upcoming updates of Chrome on Windows 10.
Next, you need to edit the Chrome Canary shortcut parameters to force it to launch with the dark mode enabled. Other aspects of the dark theme may change with time as well.
The dark theme is still unfinished, hence this menu with nearly illegible black text on a dark grey background.
