Foxx called a press conference to make it known that she is willing to look into opening an investigation, but needs the unknown accusers and their families to come forward.
Following the finale of Surviving R. Kelly on January 5, it has been reported that the Fulton County District Attorney has begun interviews in the latest probe into the ongoing allegations against Kelly, including one of his alleged sex cult hostages, 23-year-old Jocelyn Savage.
Chris Hopper, a spokesperson for the Fulton County DA's office, had no comment on whether or not an investigation into Kelly is indeed underway.
While no charges have now been brought in Kelly's other residence of Chicago, Cook County state attorney Kim Foxx held a press conference on Tuesday to encourage any victims to "please come forward". "I should stress the courage that it takes to relive and repeatedly re-experience by telling your story of sexual victimization, but we rely heavily on victim accounts and victim statements to prosecute cases involving sexual assault or domestic violence", Foxx said.
"Please come forward. There is nothing that can be done to investigate these allegations without the cooperation of victims and witnesses", Foxx said. Investigators have made contact with the family of Asante McGee and the attorney for the family of Jocelyn Savage, two of the women who were profiled in the film. Kelly and the alleged victim, in her 20s at the time of the trial, denied it was them in the video. "I was sickened by the allegations".
"No one has ever seen any evidence of it", he said. There are no photos of him with these women.
According to police, there is a warrant against R. Kelly's former manager for terroristic threats stemming from a May 2018 phone call. In 2002, he was arrested after a video surfaced appearing to show him having sex with and urinating on a 14-year-old girl.
The chips are falling for R. Kelly and his team. The report doesn't say what the relationship between Mason and Kelly is.
The father told WTSP that another daughter visited Azriel at Kelly's and allegedly noticed bruises on her body. The special included dozens of interviews with people formerly associated with Kelly, in addition to a number of women detailing their own claims of Kelly's alleged abuse. Additionally, they are said to be hiring lawyers to try and stop their parents from trying to reclaim them and get them out of R. Kellys home. Kelly, who turned 52 on Tuesday, has denied wrongdoing.
