They found the victims, but Jayme was not there and no gun was found, the Barron County sheriff said at the time. Police did not release any other details about the arrest.
The sheriff's statement said that its department "could not have endured this case without the support of the public and I want to thank them for all the support and help". "From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!"
Officials with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department posted a note on its website saying Jayme was "located" in the Town of Gordon at 4:43 p.m. Thursday, and a suspect was apprehended in the town about 10 minutes later.
"They were just two peas in a pod", family friend Melissa Salmonson tells PEOPLE, describing the pair as "almost inseparable" and saying Denise "was pretty quiet and shy like Jayme - they were similar".

The sheriff previously said his office was receiving around 25 tips per day regarding Closs' disappearance.
The teen's uncle, Jeff Closs, said he is shocked and beyond grateful for the outcome they desperately hoped for. "She's just so shy". Smith there are a lot of happy tears in her house.
Nobody in the family has seen Closs yet and she is still with law enforcement.
"The Voice" singer Chris Kroeze of Barron, Wisconsin posted to his Facebook page after learning the news.
Shortly after this, a suspect was taken into custody in regards to the case.
Jayme Closs' parents James and Denise were found fatally shot at their family home on October 15.
In fact, there was no forensic evidence of any intruder at all.
"We had four different crime labs go over the scene and we didn't recover anything", he said.
He added: 'It doesn't appear that anything was taken, it doesn't appear that Jayme packed up any clothing'.
