Songs by R. Kelly generated 4.3 million on-demand audio and video streams in the USA on January 5, the third and final day of the cable network's six-part series, "Surviving R. Kelly", up from 1.9 million on January 2, according to Nielsen Music statistics cited by Billboard. Especially if it is against someone she has worked closely with.
I don't doubt that Gaga's apology is honest, although I totally get why people do, since it's Oscar season. I believe these women and don't give a fuck about protecting a serial child rapist. What Gaga does now, as a way to continue her advocacy, is important, and maybe donating the money made from the song to groups that help Black women in Chicago would be a good step to show this isn't just rhetoric.
However, the state's attorney's office has said it has received calls about R. Kelly since Foxx's request, and is following up on those calls. She has been in touch with families from the docu-series who are looking for their loved ones.
