The latest episode of Koffee with Karan season 6 featuring Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and K.L. Rahul is in the news for all the wrong reasons. They have been suspended from participating in any activity organised or supported by the Indian board, the ICC or any state associations pending enquiry. The BCCI stated that both players had apologised, while Pandya also expressed remorse via his official Instagram account. There have been incidents where the match referees and umpires have reported for a game on the morning of the match in the face of settled protocol.
Even Pandya had earlier mentioned he had got carried away by the "nature of the show" while apologising for his comments on social media.
The under-fire players have been suspended pending an inquiry into their sexist comments on a TV show, ruling them out of the three-match ODI series against Australia beginning Saturday in Sydney.
"We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers do not support such views", Kohli said ahead of the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) here.
Days after their historic maiden Test series triumph, Kohli asserted that the side does not stand by the "individual opinions", which have triggered a social media storm.
CoA Chairman Vinod Rai had earlier recommended a two-ODI ban for them but Diana chose to seek legal opinion before taking any action.
Interestingly, the present issue doesn't fall under the Code of Conduct of the BCCI as per the legal team. "After considering their reply, it was decided that the BCCI would proceed against both for misconduct and indiscipline", kit added. The constitution specifies that the BCCI CEO seek an explanation from the players through an initial show-cause notice and the CEO's report is to be forwarded by the Apex Council to an Ombudsman, who determines what sanctions are binding. The legal team has suggested that the CoA, as the authorised head of the BCCI now, could substitute for the Apex Council.
Isha also stated everybody in the show should be questioned.
"The team management has told Pandya that he is not playing tomorrow as they are yet to get a final directive".
While legal team had advised appointment of ad-hoc ombudsman for which Mr. Rai wants the view of amicus.
