The iPhone maker is expected to reveal some important news - but tipsters say a new gadget isn't on the cards.
BuzzFeed writes, citing unnamed sources, that Apple is getting ready to hold a press event on March 25 at Steve Jobs Theater on its Apple Park campus. According to the website, Apple will be announcing all three products at the aforementioned date, though it should be noted that the technology giant was reported on several occasions to unveil the AirPods 2 during the month of March.
It's also no secret that Apple may be working on a news subscription service.
It's worth noting that the absence of streaming options from entities like HBO, Netflix, and perhaps Hulu arguably hurts Apple more than anyone else given that the company would ideally like to house all popular streaming options under a unified umbrella app on iOS. Others have transitioned to locking all content behind a paywall, while others offer a certain amount of free content to all readers, requiring payment to access the rest.
But this new service would combine content from news services who lock their content behind a paywall. However, the company has been butting heads with publishers over monetary details-Apple reportedly wants to keep 50 percent of subscription revenue from the service. The New York Times and the Washington Post are said to be among the publishers that are not happy with Apple's terms.
Publishers are threatening to revolt against Apple's planned subscription news service before it has even got off the ground in anger at the proposed financial terms stipulated by the technology firm. But apparently, this will not be the case, and instead of a hardware piece, the company will be introducing a new service.
"We believe there will be another event in April at which point we expect iPad and product announcements to be launched".
