Apparently a Fortnite Season 8 bug makes the pickaxes useless for their purposes. The first of these hard challenges is available to everyone, regardless of having purchased the Battle Pass, and asks players to visit the new Pirate Camps. As usual, the Battle Pass will cost 950 V-Bucks on all platforms. There's even a banana man skin in there, along with an accompanying dance, so Fortnite players can now revive the classic "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" meme in-game.
The first major change gamers will notice is the removal of Wailing Woods and The Block. The most significant addition with the release of season eight are the two new locations brought on by a giant erupting volcano.
Playgrounds is now part of Creative, where you'll matchmake with 15 other players into a new Playgrounds Hub to explore four Featured Islands or drop into one of five Named Locations on the Battle Royale map. That's right, a new season means a whole new 10 weeks of challenges to complete. The volcano, which is located where Wailing Woods used to be, has deadly lava and vents that can sweep players into the air.
The full patch note list is absolutely huge, and details changes coming to the game including a new pirate cannon, two new locations, lava, volcanic vents, and myriad more changes besides. It will also be able to dole out 100 damage to enemies on direct hit and 50 damage on a nearby hit.
