Grammy-winning R&B singer R. Kelly arrives for a child support hearing at a Cook County courthouse in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. March 6, 2019. The singer - pictured above arriving in court today - left the courtroom in handcuffs and a rep for the sheriff's office told the paper he is returning to Cook County Jail, where he spent three days after being arrested on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims - three of whom were minors - on February 22.
As fans know, Kelly's had a number of financial issues, including unpaid rent and unpaid child support. He says the woman, who is now 30, no longer lives in MI and that his department is trying to speak with her and her attorney.
Kelly is estranged from the three children from his 10-year marriage to Drea, which ended in divorce in 2009. In "Surviving R. Kelly", Andrea Kelly described the singer as volatile, controlling, manipulative and abusive toward her. "So when I met him, he thought that I was 18", she said. Kelly denied the allegations in an emotional interview with "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King. "[But] they're pressured [not to see him], and I get it". A female fan ultimately put up the money.
King then said the allegations against Kelly go beyond rumors, noting the decades of accusations of sexual misconduct and assault. He is not without means. Three of the four victims in the case said they were minors at the time. A videotape given to prosecutors in his current case purports to show Kelly having sex with a girl who repeatedly says she's 14.
The parents of two women who live with R. Kelly say the singer brainwashed them.
The second part of the CBS interview aired on Thursday morning, where Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage, who are eight years younger than Kelly with their ages combined, angrily and tearfully defended him. Both sets of parents have publicly denied ever asking or receiving money from R. Kelly.
At one point Kelly jumped to his feet and shouted to the camera, pounding his breast. "All of the victims and parents can not be lying". He said Kelly will remain jailed until he can pay the full amount, and said he hopes Kelly will be released by next Wednesday. The charges say Kelly used force or the threat of force.
