Aitan Goelman, Strzok's attorney, said in a statement Thursday: "Pete welcomes the release of the transcript of his closed-door testimony, which we have been calling for since he voluntarily testified last June".
Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page said previous year on Capitol Hill that any bias in the FBI against Donald Trump did not impact the bureau's investigations of the Trump campaign's suspected Russian Federation ties and of Hillary Clinton's emails. He said "there was no conspiracy" at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to prevent Trump from becoming president, and said he and Page did not secretly scheme to block his path.
The FBI was reportedly looking at recommending criminal charges against Hillary Clinton over her email scandal until the Obama-era Department of Justice told them not to. It could be construed as a convenient excuse for a cover-up, but she continued, "The Clinton investigation was whether she mishandled classified information". Strzok was dismissed from Robert Mueller's team once the text messages were uncovered by internal investigations.
"The American people are overwhelmingly for the report being made public". But his comments in the transcript of the closed-door interview are the most thorough to date explaining a text Strzok sent Page saying they could not take the "risk" of Trump getting elected.
John Ratcliffe (R-TX) posted a transcript excerpt of Page's 2018 July testimony to social media in which she made the explosive admission to him. "And equally, if they aren't guilty of anything, that's also important", Strzok said. Collins said on the House floor Thursday that he meant to release additional transcripts from that GOP-led probe in the weeks ahead, in the name of transparency.
Strzok recalled that he disagreed that a candidate's electability should be part of the equation.
Objecting to Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's request for unanimous consent to pass the resolution on Thursday, Graham asked that it be amended to appoint an entirely new special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton's emails. McCabe has said he could not recall such a meeting taking place.
