After yesterdays premature leak of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered we knew something was going to be shown today during Rebellions live stream. The centerpiece of the announcement is the next major Sniper Elite game, though the announcement shies away from calling it "Sniper Elite 5" by name.
Rebellion have announced that they're now working on a grand total of four Sniper Elite projects scheduled to be released over the next couple of years.
Little is known about the Sniper Elite VR game, other than it is being developed by British studio Just Add Water. So yeah, this seems like a game targeting next-generation platforms.
"Offering stunningly enhanced graphics, 4K resolution and HDR display, this is the visually definitive version of Sniper Elite V2". This will include all the games content including local wireless multiplayer mode and motion controls. There will also be new characters, a photo mode and expanded multiplayer modes over the original release.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered and Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition will be followed by a brand new VR experience. He added that more details on this will be available later this year. Clients have included Lorne Lanning's Oddworld Inhabitants (Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath & Oddworld: New & Tasty), Bossa Studios (I Am Bread), Codemasters (Micro Machines World Series), Bithell Games (Volume & Volume: Coda), and Rising Star Games (Lumo). We haven't seen a trailer or any gameplay for it yet, but if you own a VR device this will be a game to watch. Don't worry though, because they did, in fact, confirm that Sniper Elite 5 is in development.
