A 5-year-old boy who was thrown from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America near Minneapolis remains hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said Saturday.
"He was enjoying a day at the Mall of America with his mom and friend on Friday morning when a stranger maliciously grabbed him and threw him over the 3rd floor balcony for no apparent reason", according to the post on GoFundMe.
A five-year old boy was rushed to the hospital Friday morning after police said a man threw him from a balcony on the third floor.
'She was screaming "Everyone pray, everyone pray. Oh, my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge, '" Brian Johnson told WCCO. He is being held at Hennepin County Jail pending charges for attempted homicide. "But when you add in the element that this was a 5-year-old child - it makes it very, very hard on everybody that was involved", he said.
Neither the boy nor the family appeared to know Aranda, according to the police statement.

'The child did suffer significant injuries, ' he said.
Potts commended the Mall of America for quickly locating the suspect.
"Every prayer for your family and your sweet little boy!" another couple posted a minute earlier.
He's now at the Bloomington Police Department, Potts said, and authorities don't believe there is any further threat to the public.
"Police officers have to deal with so much, so many kinds of things, but I can tell you that this is the kind of incident that they don't see very often", Potts said.
Aranda was banned from the mall for one year. Our immediate and only concern is for the wellbeing of the family and the child, as well as for any individuals who may have witnessed the incident.
Then in October 2015, Aranda returned to the Mall of America again - in violation of his no-trespass order - and harassed and assaulted a woman inside a restaurant there, records show. As the Bloomington Police Department continues to investigate how and why this isolated incident happened, we will provide our full cooperation'. The charges state he threw a drinking glass at a customer at Twin City Grill in the Mall of America.
