NY state police say rapper Kodak Black was arrested on drug and weapons charges as he tried to cross from Canada into the United States.
Apparently, Kodak was hit with a criminal charge for weapon possession, and a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession. Police say Kodak Black had marijuana and a Glock 9 mm pistol that he did not declare inside the Cadillac Escalade he was driving.
Law enforcement sources told the entertainment news site, Kodak and three other people were stopped by U.S. Customs Agents when entering the U.S. from Canada.
"On Wednesday, during the initial inspection, the U.S. citizens admitted to being in possession of marijuana and firearms", said U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in a statement. It was unclear where the men in the Escalade and a second vehicle were headed, but Black had been scheduled to perform that night in Boston, about 400 miles (640 kilometers) east.
As of early Thursday morning, Kodak remained in police custody, being held on a $20,000 cash bond or $40,000 bond.
The FADER has emailed Kodak Black's representatives for comment.
Black was remanded to county jail. Video taken by WKBW-TV of Black walking to a auto after posting bail shows him hiding his face with what appears to be a fan of $100 bills.
The two passengers in the Escalade face a weapons charge.
Meanwhile, police said the crowd inside and outside the venue began to grow unruly after learning Kodak Black would not be appearing. They were due to return to Lewiston Court in May 2019. The rapper is known for songs including "Zeze", and "No Flockin". His last album, 2018's "Dying to Live", debuted at No. 1 on the charts.
A License Premises Violation was also issued to House of Blues for the alleged sexual assault and the altercation involving the patron and staff members.
