Hartson labels Arsenal's bid for Tierney as 'an embarrassment'

One of the new rumours to spread this weekend is Arsenal's pursuit of Celtic's Kieran Tierney.

Kieran Tierney is a talented left back that is very good at defending and attacking, great tackler and those are some of the main things that you require from modern fullbacks.

A report by BBC Sport suggests that the Gunners will look to make an improved offer for the Celtic 22-year-old in the coming days and remain "optimistic" in their pursuit of the Scotland worldwide.

Sport journalist David Ornstein had also said something along the same lines.

John Hartson has labelled Arsenal's move for Kieran Tierney as "an embarrassment". The Scottish worldwide has been on the radar of top English clubs for more than a year.

Tierney would certainly solve that problem, and would have no issues adjusting to the higher pace of the Premier League.

Celtic will use Manchester United's £35m plus £15m of add-ons offer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to maximise the fee they receive for Kieran Tierney this summer. But, the Spaniard is not agile enough to be deployed in a left wing-back role and Sead Kolasinac isn't as defensively aware of his duties and positioning while being a brilliant prospect as far as going forward is concerned.

The 22-year-old has captained the Bhoys amongst his 167 appearances and has also represented Scotland at senior level. With them low on a possible Celtic contacts the paper may be listening to sources close to Arsenal. On paper, this looks like a brilliant coup for Arsenal and one they are nearly certain to complete, if they want to.
