It was previously announced that American Horror Story: 1984 would be returning to our screens on Wednesday September 18th at 10pm on FX. On the slightly more positive note, while Paulson won't be starring in 1984, she will be making an appearance of some kind in guest star capacity. It is possible Paulson could appear in a cameo.
Thoughts and prayers go out to all the "AHS" stans during this hard time. This news feels inevitable, mostly because it's felt for a long time like Paulson has just stepped into a cloning machine and been able to produce new versions of herself time and time again for various shows.
FX announced past year that it has renewed American Horror Story for a 10th season, despite Murphy exiting his deal with 20th Century Fox to make the move over to Netflix.
Paulson additionally stars as the title character in Netflix's Ratched, Murphy's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest prequel about the beginnings of the film and book's Nurse Ratched villain. But all that screaming hasn't been for nought - Paulson has earned widespread acclaim for her work as a scream queen in American Horror Story, picking up five Emmy nominations over the past eight years. The least amount of time she spent on screen was in Murder House as Billie Dean Howard with three episodes.
Even without two of its mainstays, season nine of AHS looks pretty epic.
While Evan won't be there, his ex Emma Roberts will with Olympic gold medalist, Gus Kenworthy, playing her boyfriend. The series remains one of FX's most valuable and critically-acclaimed properties. It was previously announced that American Horror Story star Evan Peters will also not be in American Horror Story: 1984, who has appeared in every previous season as well. Season 10 of the series is expected to air in 2020.
