John Connor was subsequently played by Nick Stahl in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Christian Bale in Terminator: Salvation, and Jason Clarke in Terminator: Genisys.
His conditions for coming back to "Terminator" with Paramount and Skydance were two-fold: "Arnold had to be in", he said, and he wanted to use the blank story canvas to continue the story of Hamilton's Sarah Connor. "I have so many takes of Linda saying f*ck!"
Of course, for those who kept up with the career of Edward Furlong, there were some great post-T2 turns in the likes of American History X, Detroit Rock City, !*$%, Animal Factory, and even The Crow: Wicked Prayer (yeah, we said it!).
Miller and Schwarzenegger were joined by Linda Hamilton, who is reprising her role as Sarah Connor, franchise newcomer Mackenzie Davis and other cast members on the Hall H stage. As she drops a grenade onto one from above, she utters the famous line, "I'll be back".
"You kind of want to retire a champion", Hamilton said.
But her 32-year-old co-star Davis still conceded that Hamilton would definitely win in a fight. Furlong, now 41, was just 13 in 1991 when he first played John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
"Terminator: Dark Fate" will take place 27 years after "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" and seeks to answer that question.
New footage screened during the panel proved the latest installment in the Terminator-verse is chockablock with explosions and F-bombs, hence its R rating, which director Miller officially confirmed during the panel. This new group of heroes will cross paths with Sarah Connor and the original Terminator who will team up with them to make their own fate. Hamilton will reprise her role for the first time in almost 30 years.
The Hamilton news was already known, as was the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but the Furlong casting info is new.
