Taylor Swift has said she intends to record new versions of her hit songs after her back catalogue was bought by pop manager Scooter Braun.
There were arguments over when Swift was made aware of the pending Ithaca Holdings deal, and Big Machine chief Scott Borchetta, who worked with Swift from her days as a country-crossover prospect to an arena-filling megastar, said he actually offered Swift a fair chance to effectively "buy back" the rights to her recordings. Braun reportedly paid $300 million for the label, which released Swift's fist six albums and owns the masters.
Swift's CBS Sunday Morning interview will air on Aug. 25, as part of release week press for her new album, Lover, which is due out on Friday (Aug. 23).
When asked by Smith whether the future held a trip to the recording studio to revisit all of her old tracks, Swift was definite in her response.
Taylor will be performing on Thursday, August 22, live from Central Park ahead of the release of her highly anticipated new album, Lover. She wants to take power away from Scooter Braun.
'It's something I'm very excited about, ' Taylor told Roberts. "All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I've received at his hands for years". "I learned about Scooter Braun's purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world", she wrote.
CBS Sunday Morning previewed some of its interview with Swift on Wednesday (Aug 21).
Borchetta responded with a post stating that Swift had previous notice of the sale, stating, "So, it's time for some truth..."
That's right! On Wednesday night, the Grammy victor ordered 30 pizzas for her devotees waiting outside NYC's Central Park, and instructed members of her team - including her dad Scott Swift - to hand deliver them personally.
"I couldn't believe that my name is in a Taylor Swift song (what?!?) and after Taylor played me the entire album it gave me such incredible inspiration for the collaboration and it really revolved around the music", McCartney told the magazine.
Braun manages Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
