Building further on the emergency calling feature which debuted on the Apple Watch Series 4 a year ago, Apple is adding global emergency calling to the Series 5 but it is limited to the cellular variant only.
Apple has launched a new version of its popular smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 5, with an always-on display.
The new Compass app will let users see what their heading, incline, latitude, longitude and current elevation is.
Other smartwatches have had always-on displays, but Apple hasn't included the feature due to concerns over battery life.
The new 10.2-inch Retina display iPad has almost 3.5 million pixels and a wide viewing angle for creative expression and immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences that take advantage of its enhanced cameras and advanced sensors, said Apple.
The other major new feature of the Apple Watch Series 5 is its built-in compass.
As for the pricing, the Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) starts at $399 (US) while the Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) starts at $499.
Pre-orders for the instrument on Apple's internet put contain already opened, and Apple said it'll lunge on sale on Friday, September 20.
The company is also lowering the cost of the Watch Series 3 to $199.
The Apple Watch Series 5 is available in multiple cases, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, and Ceramic.
Apple says this doesn't impact battery life thanks to brand-new screen technology, so you'll still get all-day, 18 hour battery life. As usual, there are also Nike and Hermès offerings available as well. The workout app also takes advantage of the watch's always-on functionality.
The Apple Watch Series 5 will also come with compass, which users can add to their home screen as well.
Apple Watch Collection 5 is available in a selection of silver, gold or house gray and is comprised of 100% recycled aluminium.
"It has a 6.1" Liquid Retina display and a new dual camera system that couples a wide sensor with a new ultra wide lens that captures a 120-degree field of view.
The cellular version of the iPad (7th Gen.) includes support for LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/11/12/13/14/17/18/19/20/21/25/26/29/30/34/38/39/40/41/66/71.
For Series 5 owners who opt for cellular connectivity, the watch's worldwide emergency SOS feature could be a literal life-saver.
