Blane Barksdale, 56, and wife Susan Barkdale, 59, escaped custody August 26 while they were being extradited from NY to Arizona in the alleged first-degree murder of Frank Bligh, 72, according to US Marshals.
26 while being transported from upstate NY to Tucson, Arizona, to face charges in the April death of a 72-year-old man.
Described as armed and risky, the couple had been free since August 26 after allegedly overpowering two security guards in a private transport vehicle during a stop in Utah while being driven from NY to Arizona to face charges.
With the bound guards in the back of the van, the couple then allegedly continued to drive the vehicle into northeast Arizona, where they abandoned it. "More information about the arrest will be released tomorrow morning during a joint news conference with the US Marshall's".
The couple was originally arrested in May after they were found hiding in an RV in a Henrietta parking lot.
Authorities in Arizona say they've captured a fugitive husband and wife couple who've been the subject of an intensive manhunt since escaping custody more than two weeks ago.
Detectives said it appeared more than 100 firearms were stolen from the home.
Blane, 56, and Susan Barksdale, 59, were recaptured on Thursday after they are said to have faked an "intestinal issue" medical emergency so they could escape after their van departed from Blanding on August 26.
The guards were reportedly able to free themselves two or three hours later by kicking out some windows. A third inmate who had been picked up in Kansas City was also in the van, but wanted "nothing to do with" the Barksdales' escape plan, Gonzales said.
Authorities said earlier this week that the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist prison gang, and the Hells Angels motorcycle gang may have been assisting the couple.
Video provided by Arizona DPS shows the moment that officers arrested Blane Barksdale. One of the Barksdales drove the truck while the other continued to drive the prison van - until abandoning it in the middle of the high desert, with the three victims still locked inside, Gonzales said.
The Barksdales were arrested in upstate NY in May following a nationwide manhunt, officials said. Once they got to the area of St. Johns, they obtained a friend's red GMC Sierra pickup truck.
