Not every game in the Apple Arcade club runs on macOS, but there are dozens of games to play already, with more to come.
If you're a Mac user who regularly uses Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom Classic CC, we don't recommend updating your computer to macOS Catalina just yet. On the plus side, it works over a wireless connection which is a major usability boon.
Mac Catalyst will allow developers to easily port over their iPad apps to the Mac. Apple teased that several iPad apps will get the Catalyst treatment, including, "Twitter, TripIt, Post-It, GoodNotes and Jira". According to Adobe's macOS compatibility pages for both Photoshop and Lightroom, the latest version of these apps "work with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) but have ... known compatibility issues".
The Music app will primarily be focused on streaming music through Apple Music, although users will retain their old library of whatever 2000s emo, electro-pop, or chillwave MP3s that they still have lying around.
Some other apps have been revamped as well.
The new Find My app combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into a single, easy-to-use app on Mac, iPad and iPhone. With podcasts gaining popularity, this is a great new addition to macOS.
Of course, you're going to want to wait until you have some time to perform this update, as it takes much more time than a standard point-update (such as 10.14.5 to 10.14.6). Find My can help users locate a missing Mac even if it's offline and sleeping by sending out Bluetooth signals that can be detected by Apple devices in use nearby, and then relaying the detected location of the Mac to iCloud so a user can can locate it in the Find My app.
Catalina is available now for all Macs from 2012 or newer.
