(The period-piece extraordinaire recently described the media's fascination over her weight in the early years of her fame as "insane.") Still, it's no surprise that the drama between so-called WAGs Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy has reached the British actress's ears; after all, it's even managed to make its way to the States, where Rooney and Vardy are hardly household names.
But now sources close to the WAG have claimed that she is so sure of her innocence that she is "prepared to see Coleen in court if necessary".
'I said to her: "Coleen, what on earth have you done?"
In a previous tweet, Vardy refuted claims made by reality TV star Danielle Lloyd - the wife of footballer Jamie O'Hara - who waded into the row with an appearance on ITV's This Morning. You have just annihilated me in public and hung me out to dry.
At first, Knightley seemed rather ambivalent about the specifics of the incident: "I don't think I have any thoughts on it all-what thoughts are we meant to have about it?", she asked Heat magazine on Thursday.
Everyone knows that footballers' wives and girlfriends often make for popular tabloid fodder, but when Coleen Rooney realised that someone with access to her private Instagram was leaking stories to The Sun, she chose to take matters into her own hands by laying an intricate trap for the follower who was betraying her.
When asked if they argued, she says, 'That would be like arguing with a pigeon'. Now I know for certain which account/individual it's come from. "It's. Rebekah Vardy's account".
'It was not an easy phone call.
"I have absolutely no idea who was responsible - I have always liked Coleen on a personal level".
"You can tell it that you are right and it is wrong, but it's still going to s*** in your hair. I would never have done anything like this and certainly not to Coleen".
Vardy has indicated that an expert is looking into where the leaks came from.
However, with so many people already following the story across social media, it's unlikely the buzz around these two ladies will die down anytime soon.
"After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion".
