Written by original show runner Josh Safran, HBO Max's Gossip Girl will introduce audiences to a new crop of private school teens living lavish lives in the Big Apple- trailed as always, by the mysterious Gossip Girl who doesn't hold back when it comes to airing out their dirty laundry. The series will also portray how social media and the landscape of NY have changed over the years.
'A new generation of NY private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl, ' continued the synopsis.
He added: "There aren't, like, new actors playing Serena and Blair".
Safran executive produces with Fake Empire's Schwartz and Savage, and Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment. The announcement was made in July this year that HBO's streaming service would air a reboot of the 2007 CW series.
"We've reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved", the producer said. "I don't think it's going to be a meditative version of Gossip Girl".
It is set to launch on HBO Max in May 2020.
