Prince Andrew to step back from public duties 'for foreseeable future'

She commented on a Buckingham Palace balcony appearance in 2012 where only the Queen, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex were present.
"The only taxpayer money is for travel".
Andrew's decision to step down from public life means that taxpayers will not be footing the bill for him directly anymore.
There are questions about how he managed to fund his lifestyle.
The Duke of York made the shock announcement this morning, as sponsors including Barclays Bank and major communications company BT begin walking away from his charitable causes.
Andrew reportedly told the Queen the interview was "a great success".
High profile lawyer Gloria Allred, who is representing five of Epstein's victims, said the "right and honourable action" for Andrew to take would be to volunteer to be interviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and NY prosecutors.
"Is he insisting that a subpoena be issued to him, or is he ready to speak to law enforcement without being legally bound to do so?", She stated. on the BBC.
Britain's Prince Andrew on Wednesday announced that he is quitting from the royal duties following controversy over his "ill-judged" association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. "His suicide has left many unanswered questions, in particular for his sufferers, and I deeply sympathise with everybody who has been affected and needs some type of closure", he added.Throughout the interview, Andrew has claimed that "no recollection" of meeting Virginia Roberts, now Virginia Giuffre.
"In light of recent developments we are reviewing our relationship with the organization and hope that we might be able to work further with them, in the event of a change in their patronage".
Citing a 2001 photo showing her posing with the prince in London, she has repeatedly challenged the Buckingham Palace's denial and held Prince Andrew responsible for being silent over the years despite knowing the number of underage girls who were sex trafficked.
The prince said he had travelled on Epstein's jet and stayed with him at his private island, as well as his homes in the USA states of Florida and NY, but denied having sexual relations with victims of Epstein's trafficking ring.
The Duke of York gave two alibis in his "BBC Newsnight" interview.
While Epstein served 18 months in jail due to a non-prosecution agreement deal, an Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into the victims and powerful personalities who were complicit in Epstein's sex crimes was dropped.
Since, there have been calls for the Prince to apologise, with one alleged Epstein victim requesting he make a police statement.
"I think it will be a great sadness for the queen", she said of Elizabeth, the 93-year-old monarch. They deny her claims. Numerous court papers related to the Epstein case are still sealed and unavailable to the public. Prince Andrew opened the matter in his interview with Emily Maitlis.
