As NCP-Shiv Sena-Congress forces for a majority test, BJP legislative party met here on Sunday to put their heads together and resolve a plan of action to comfortably pass the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly.
His deputy Ajit Pawar said, "From result day to this day no party was able to form the government, Maharashtra was facing many problems including farmer issues, so we chose to form a stable government".
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was administered the oath by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Saturday.
Senior Congress leader and advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for the Shiv Sena at the Supreme Court, while the NCP-Congress was represented by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
The BJP said later in the day that the court's order strengthened its claim that Ajit Pawar continues to be the Nationalist Congress Party's legislature party leader. "We also passed a resolution congratulating Devendra Fadnavis on taking oath as Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Minister", said Ashish Shelar.
It's illegal if the list of these MLAs was given to the governor, he said. "Fadnavis ji will not be able to prove majority on the floor of the House, we demand him that he tenders his resignation", Malik said.
Fadnavis on Saturday returned as the state's chief minister propped up by NCP's Ajit Pawar, who was made his deputy, just hours after the new alliance of Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress reached a consensus that Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be their chief ministerial candidate.
Mr. Ajit Pawar went on tweeting spree from thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah to all the Union Ministers.
Rohatgi, however, argued that the decisions of the governor are not subject to judicial review under the Constitution.
The apex court has asked that the Governor's letter inviting the Bharatiya Janata Party to form a government in Maharashtra and the letter of support by the MLAs to the BJP be produced before it by 10.30 am on Monday. "Ajit Pawar can issue a whip to the NCP legislators [to vote in favour of an alliance with the BJP]". "The swearing-in took place on the basis of bogus documents", party leader Nawab Malik said.
The Shiv Sena MLAs are staying at The Lalit hotel located near the global airport here, they said.
The move jolted the the Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena who were giving final touches to government formation in the state but rattled the NCP the most due to Ajit Pawar's rebellion.
President's rule was imposed on Maharashtra after no party was able to form the government even 20 days after assembly election results which were declared on October 24.
