"But a dog that is very, very special".
USA military dog Conan participated in the Baghdadi raid to kill ISIS leader.
Trump also warned reporters that Conan was trained to attack if you opened your mouth and to be careful around him.
"We just gave Conan a medal and a plaque". Shortly after, he reposted a photoshopped picture of himself placing a medal around the Belgian Malinois' neck that quickly became one of his most retweeted posts ever. And nobody is going to mess with Conan, ' the president said. "Ultimate in terms of sniffing drugs", Trump said.
In this photo provided by the White House via the Twitter account of President Donald Trump after it was declassified by Trump, a photo of Conan, the military working dog that was injured tracking down Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. "The dog is incredible".
The US leader also took the opportunity to trumpet once more the raid on Baghdadi, who had led IS since 2014 and at the time of his death was the world's most wanted man.
"So brilliant, so smart". The way it was with the special forces people that have worked with him, for obvious reasons they can't be out in front of the media. When Pence paused briefly to deliver his own remarks, Conan looked up at Pence for more petting.
Conan is female, according to a White House source, and the Belgian Malinois serves as a canine unit in the military.
However, in a press conference on October 30, 2019, regarding the raid on al-Baghdadi's compound, U.S. Marine Corps General Frank McKenzie, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), had specifically said that the dog was male. U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, Jr. said a group of civilians left al-Baghdadi's compound when the U.S. forces approached. He added, "Yet you see how attractive and how calm he is during a situation like this".
"He's not in a bad mood today", Trump told dozens of reporters, cameramen and members of TV crews gathered in the Rose Garden. "It was undetectable. The dog came in and jumped on the hood, pointing - wow! - incredible sense of smell", said the president, who was accompanied by Vice President Mike Pence and first lady Melania Trump. "That was a flawless attack and I guess they got quite a few of them".
'This is the ultimate fighter.
