The reason behind Union's dismissal remains unclear at this point, but for Wade, he is certain that his wife is actually one of the main reasons why the show continues to be successful year after year.
Various reports started to surface that Union was allegedly fired after speaking out about the show's "toxic" workplace environment.
The report also claimed that both Gabrielle and Julianne "received excessive notes on their physical appearance".
Unfortunately, according to those who know of the situation behind the scenes at America's Got Talent, that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough dealt with while working on the show.
Now that she is no longer on the show, Gabrielle is finally opening up about how the firing drama made her feel, taking to Twitter to tell the world: 'So many tears, so much gratitude. According to Variety's Matt Donnelly, both Union and Hough expressed concerns about the "toxic culture" at the NBC competition show, and they repeatedly complained about offensive incidents, including one involving famed late night host Jay Leno.
He added: "But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she's an advocate for our community and culture". Union's husband, Dwyane Wade, confirmed she was sacked in a series of tweets Wednesday.
Nick Cannon abruptly quit his hosting duties on the show in 2017 after NBC threatened to fire him over jokes he made during a Showtime comedy special.
Wade and Union married in 2014 and have been vocal in their social activism, a recent example being the family's support of their 11-year-old child, Zion, attending the Miami Pride parade.
After the meeting Union was apparently so upset she went outside to get fresh air and upon her return, found that Cowell was equally as upset - but with her for leaving.
Wade continued, "As proud as i were of her being selected as a judge on #AGT- Iam [sic] even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that's U.S.".
NBC and Fremantle, the production company behind AGT, responded to the allegations in a joint statement.
Sources claim he and Union clashed nearly immediately when she raised concerns about Cowell smoking inside the theatre where the show filmed. I am still waiting on a good answer to that question. Crews, who is not commenting, will return as host next season, while Cowell and Mandel will return as judges.
