Of course, MI hopes that this game will either be more like a repeat of the Wolverines' last game in the Citrus Bowl, in 2015, when the maize and blue routed Florida, or like the last time it faced Bama in a bowl game, in 2000, when Tom Brady led the Wolverines to a comeback, overtime victory in the Orange Bowl. Auburn's previous two Outback Bowl appearances also went to overtime. Jim McVay and everyone associated with the bowl make it a first-class experience for our players and fans. The Crimson Tide are 10-2 and ranked No. 13 in the latest College Football Playoff poll, with losses to No. 1 LSU and No. 12 Auburn.
Minnesota finished the season 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten.
Auburn: This will be the Tigers' 44th bowl trip.

The fact that Utah got routed in the Pac-12 title game opened the door for Penn State to earn a bid to the Cotton Bowl.
This season's game will be the fifth time Auburn has appeared in what is now known as the Outback Bowl. Ohio State was assured a spot in the College Football Playoff after going undefeated, regardless of the outcome in the Big Ten Championship Game.
