According to the Ugandan police force, Yvonne Chaka Chaka was deported on Visa grounds.
In an audio press release this evening, Police Chief Mouthpiece Fred Enanga said Chaka Chaka had been "escorted" by security to the Entebbe International Airport from where, she left the country abord Rwanda Air at exactly 4:15Pm.
"This is to inform the public that a security task team with close coordination with immigration officials has this afternoon escorted Ms Mhinga Yvonne, popularly known as Chaka Chaka to Entebbe International airport, where she boarded her next immediate flight to South Africa, via Kigali", he said.
The Ugandans say that she came into their country on an ordinary visa, yet by performing in a new year concert there she would have been on a working visit, requiring an employment visa.
Mr Enanga said as a result, the Immigration Department has cancelled her temporary visa. "This has been done by immigration officials and the security team to help maintain the integrity of our immigration rules".
Chaka Chaka was arrested immediately after arrival and detained at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Nakasero where she spent the night.
The Umqombothi hitmaker was expected to perform at the Buganda Kingdom's Enkuuka Y'Omwaka - New Year's Eve party.
Music promoter Abby Musinguzi also known as Abitex who brought Chaka Chaka into the country said she was barred from leaving her hotel room.
South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka said that she was never in danger while she was in Uganda. According to PML Daily, authorities cordoned off the hotel and "ordered her to stop her rehearsal".
It is thought that the singer was placed in bad books after she heaped praises to Bobi Wine previous year during her performance at Kampala Serena Hotel, where she referred to him as the new Nelson Mandela.
PML Daily reports, she once referred to the President's nemesis as Uganda's Nelson Mandela, a move that has made her unpopular to the Ugandan authorities. She had chose to return home, she claimed, because she did "not understand" what was happening.
"I know my country is worried, my people are worried, my husband is worried, everybody is worried but I am fine".
It didn't even last an hour before we had a video posted on Chaka Chaka's social media platforms revealing that she was okay and had not been kidnapped nor deported as earlier stated.
