The big news items for LG in 2020 are that it will have more 8K TVs this year, OLED TVs in new screen sizes (including a small, 48-inch 4K model), and more powerful processors and AI to help optimize picture and sound quality.
One of the most interesting TVs we've seen at CES is the Philips OLED 804, a 65-inch OLED TV that offers both excellent picture quality and sound along with an array of unique features as part of the Philips ecosystem. These new TVs aim to give the most immersive viewing experience. The device is equipped with OLED screen size of 65 inches, created on the basis of organic light-emitting diodes which does not require backlight because of self-radiation. Paired with an included specially-designed wall mount, these 55-, 65- and 77-inch class models hang completely flush on the wall, providing a dramatic appearance, transforming the OLED into a piece of art.
Aside from possibly being the cheapest flagship OLED TV LG plans to offer-once again we don't have pricing details yet-this new 48-inch model doesn't offer any special features or lower-latency than the rest of LG CX-Series OLED TVs. If you want to start the week with some exciting new technology announcements, make sure you tune into the live stream at the top of this page, which starts at 8:00 p.m. PT / 11:00 p.m. and lasts about an hour.
The company also introduced 8K models for 2020 with 77 and 88 inches and 60 Hz via HDMI 2.1.
The new Filmmaker Mode delivers images the way they film maker intended. LG employees focused their discussions on this smaller TV primarily on gaming and set it up at the show with a PC gaming rig on a desk. Now, as far as TVs go, the Japanese company is a beast.
If you've a bit anxious about your TV listening in on your conversations, you can at least turn off the feature in the TV menus. And with Google Chromecast capability built-in, you can easily share content and apps between smartphones and the TV. "Beyond the unrivalled picture quality that LG's premium TVs deliver, the new additions also come with the company's advanced technologies, best in AI-integration and unrivalled, futuristic design made possible by OLED technology".
