Carlos Ghosn's lawyers hit back at Nissan's 'biased' allegations

Subsequently, the office of the lead lawyer Junichiro Hironaka just issued an official statement that they had filed with the Tokyo District Court letters of resignation for all Ghosn's lawyers who are connected with all cases related to Ghosn.
A report submitted by Nissan to the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Thursday says more than 22 million dollars was spent to buy and renovate homes in Brazil and Lebanon for use by Ghosn. They also said Nissan never tried to interview Ghosn or Greg Kelly, another former executive facing charges of financial misconduct, or "bothered to solicit their knowledge of the facts".
Nissan confirmed both were true, but denied there was any conflict of interest.
"This report confirms that Nissan's investigation was biased, lacked integrity and independence and was designed and executed for the predetermined goal of taking out Carlos Ghosn", the defence crew mentioned.
A second lawyer in Ghosn's three-person legal team, Takashi Takano, has also quit according to an official who has spoken to the press on his behalf from his offices.
Saikawa resigned a year ago for allegations of doubtful income.
Ghosn was charged with under-reporting his future compensation and breach of trust in diverting Nissan money for personal gain. He says that the compensation has never been fixed or paid and that the payments were for legitimate matters.
While former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn refused to provide details of his escape, Turkey's state news agency published photographs of two men accused of helping the fugitive. It has promised to strengthen corporate governance since the arrest of Ghosn in November 2018.
The former Nissan chairman secretly fled Japan to Lebanon in late December in violation of a ban on overseas travel, one of the conditions imposed on him when he was released on bail. Experts say it is virtually impossible to continue the Ghosn process in Japan.
