The number of those infected and killed across China by the Wuhan coronavirus continues to climb ever upward with the tally of confirmed cases threatening to surpass 1,000 by the start of the Chinese New Year.
The virus has caused alarm because it is still too early to know just how unsafe it is.
This wouldn't be the first confirmed case in the USA, though: that would be the man in Washington state who contracted the virus after returning to the U.S. from the region around Wuhan, China, where the outbreak began. In the latest update on this topic, the CDC says that it's still unknown how this virus is transmitted between people and how easily that happens. Health officials fear this travelling could spread the transmission.
Meanwhile, the casualty count has increased from 18 to 25 with 24 of those deaths occurring in Hubei province and the remaining one in Hebei.
The patients have also had a high fever and a cough, officials said.
The patient is a man in his 40s from Wuhan who is on a trip to Japan, the ministry said, adding that he has been hospitalized in Tokyo and is in stable condition.

According to CGTN news, one case was also found in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Travelers from China are being screened at several airports across the world in the wake of a deadly viral outbreak.
This suspicion was first established based on a case that involved a woman in Wuhan who had never visited the market, but who was married to a man who worked there and who had first contracted the virus.
