On top of this, Sanzaru Games has much experience in the world of virtual reality.
What will Sanzaru be working on as part of Oculus Studios?
While "the vast majority" of Sanzaru staff will now join Oculus's games arm Oculus Studios, Sanzaru will still work as "an independent studio operating out of their current offices".
Facebook has officially bought Sanzaru Games, the developers behind the hit Oculus Exclusive "Asgard's Wrath". The projects produced by some employees will not be part of the Oculus Studios team because they are different.
The Facebook executive refers to Sanzaru Games as a VR pioneer.
As revealed in an Oculus blog post, the studio was chosen as it has created four titles for the Oculus platform - it was the first developer to team up with the Oculus Studios team.
The move serves to advance Facebook's interests in VR and VR gaming - areas its CEO Mark Zuckerberg has long taken a keen interest in.
Do you plan to acquire other studios? While Facebook isn't divulging any details yet, it has said that it is exploring numerous ways to "accelerate VR" and that 2020 will be an "incredible year for VR game launches and announcements". We are thrilled to have Sanzaru joining our team. The studio's most popular VR game, Asgard's Wrath, was highly reviewed at the time of its release in October, and was included in several games-of-the-year lists.
Facebook has acquired virtual reality and Sonic Boom developer Sanzaru Games.
After the acquisition of Beat Games by Facebook in November, the purchase of Sanzaru Games shows Facebook's continued interest in propping up studies of virtual reality games and aligning them with their interests while allowing them to operate independently.
