As concerns about coronavirus expand across the USA leading to loads of people shopping to prepare (albeit not necessarily following the advice of health officials with some purchases), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a list of expert-approved disinfecting products that can be useful for deep cleaning your home and work environments and effectively and killing the germs that cause COVID-19.
In a press release Thursday, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said using the right disinfectant is a huge part of preventing and reducing the spread of illness. The EPA now released a list of products and chemicals that it recommends for use against viruses, even those that it deemed are "harder-to-kill" than the SARS-CoV-2. He mentioned the importance of hand washing, as well.
"I think it's very important because we want to have a healthy nation and a healthy country and a healthy city so it's important to go out and do whatever we have to do to make sure that we have healthy people in the world", Kenneth Jefferson said in response to how important it is to knowing what disinfectants to use. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have also echoed this Reminder, reiterating that the best way to keep your hands free of germs is to use alcohol or wash with alcohol and soap for 20 seconds several times during the day.

Touching virus-contaminated objects or surfaces and then touching one's face, eyes, and mouth are also means of transmission, although this is not the main way that the virus can spread. Prior to publication of the list, manufacturers faced potential penalties from EPA if they made claims that their product was effective against SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, disinfectant wipes have limited use in this respect. EPA urges users to follow the longest indicated contact time and the strongest concentration.
