Bernie Sanders has not suspended his presidential campaign. According to the reports, she had been the last woman in the contest after Elizabeth Warren chose to quit within two days of a poor show on Super Tuesday. "Sanders is going to be having conversations with supporters to assess his campaign".
Some US media report that Sanders is likely to stay in the race for the time being to continue his appeal for universal health insurance coverage.
But Sanders is under mounting pressure to drop out after performing poorly in several recent primaries including three states swept by Biden this week.
Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, speaks during a news conference at the 9/11 Tribute Museum, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, in NY.
Gabbard's announcement leaves Biden and progressive Senator Bernie Sanders as the only Democratic candidates competing for the party's presidential nomination.
Harris hit back by saying Gabbard was too close to Syrian leader Bashar Assad, who Gabbard visited in 2017.
In Arizona, Biden had almost 44% to Sanders' almost 32%. The Democratic primary in OH was originally scheduled for this past Tuesday, but it was postponed after Governor Mike DeWine ordered polling stations to be closed in an effort to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Biden has now won 19 of the 24 contests, with just over half to be held.
Given Biden's substantial lead in opinion polls in numerous states yet to hold primaries, Sanders faces an uphill battle.
"If you're offered a job in the new administration and you think that it's a pretty good chance that he wins, I can't begrudge her that", he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Biden and his aides must also react to President Donald Trump and developments in the coronavirus outbreak and response. "We will follow up shortly with the new date", a Biden campaign representative said in an email to donors on Wednesday, according to CNBC.
The Democratic National Committee "will have gotten their fondest wish and defeated Bernie Sanders, far ahead of schedule", Trump tweeted. "He will be dropping out soon!" he said, referring to Sanders' failed fight for the nomination in 2016.
Trump also appeared to be attempting to rile up Sanders' supporters, whose willingness to transfer their support to Biden could be crucial in the November contest.
