While not technically Half-Life 3, and while a VR game was not how fans expected the series to return, there's still plenty of excitement regarding Alyx, as many hope it becomes the breakthrough title that sells the game industry on virtual reality.
Alongside the news of the release date Valve has shared a trio of new screenshots showing various scenes from City 17. Demand was high when the Valve Index launched in June 2019, with pre-orders slipping by several months. Secondly, anyone looking for all the loose ends at the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to finally be tied up aren't going to find them here. We try to avoid being dogmatic about any game design choice.
- Community-Built Environments - A set of Source 2 tools for building new environments will ship with the game, enabling any player to build and contribute new environments for the community to enjoy. It wasn't until 2001, when Half-Life: Blue Shift arrived on PlayStation 2, reaching a massive milestone. In a follow-up tweet to the official release date announcement, Valve explained they would have "more information on upcoming Valve Index availability soon". The game will serve as a prequel to Half-Life 2, and give us a look into Alyx Vance's story before meeting Gordon Freeman.
