Tyler, a mercenary-for-hire, has been ordered to rescue the kidnapped son, Ovi Mahajan (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), of an worldwide crime lord.
Hemsworth stars in the movie as Tyler, who is tasked with bringing home the son of a drug lord kidnapped by a rival drug lord in South Asia. However, the mission keeps on getting more complicated and deadlier as Rake and the boy get further entangled in the web of murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers.
In the film, Pankaj Tripathi and Priyanshu Painyuli play the role of biggest drug lords of India and Bangladesh, Golshifteh Farahani is on the operations team. We see Rake bust into a seedy flat where he guns down the abductors and rescues Ovi, but the bulk of their challenges have just begun. As you may have heard, I was incredibly excited to come to India and to celebrate this movie where it was filmed. Eerily enough, a line in the trailer alludes to the city being in some sort of lockdown, a fitting if unintended parallel to real-life events. At one point, Rake's handler tells him, "The job is fucked, Tyler", and as the odds stack up against them, he decides to confront his past demons and protect the kid no matter the consequences. He recently lost his own son.
Hemsworth recently described his character to USA Today, "He's come to terms with the fact that his number could be up any second". Directed by Taika Waititi, Love and Thunder is set to star Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 18, 2022. Looking forward to catching this on Netflix. In the "Extraction" trailer above, we see Hemsworth's Tyler Rake (a cringey name, but we'll gloss over this) attempt to rescue the kidnapped son of an worldwide crime lord. I can not wait to see what he has delivered.
