"Our Dimensity 1000 is already powering impressive flagship 5G devices in a number of markets". Dimensity 800 has the same configuration, but the clock speed is higher in case of the Dimensity 820 when it comes to performance-based cores (2GHz vs 2.6GHz). Both the chipsets feature the ARM big.LITTLE architecture with four Cortex-A76 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores.
The Dimensity 820 SoC comes with MediaTek HyperEngine 2.Zero that offers the chipset "best-in-class gaming experiences, with up to 33 percent more gaming performance than direct alternatives". Up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM is supported.
MediaTek compared the benchmark score of Dimensity 820 with that of Snapdragon 765G SOC & as we can see in the image above, Dimensity 820 is 7% better when we talk about single-core performance & 37% better when we talk about the multi-core performance. It helps as much as 80-megapixel cameras and 120Hz shows, together with improved gaming efficiency by way of MediaTek's HyperEngine 2.0. The model supports MediaTek 5G UltraSave Network Detection and MediaTek 5G UltraSave Content Detection along with Dynamic BWP and C-DRX (Connected Mode DRX). The Taiwanese company has just launched the MediaTek Dimensity 820, a new system-on-chip (SoC) that delivers ultra-fast 5G speeds, dual-SIM tech, and voice over new radio (VoNR), the 5G equivalent to VoLTE tech.
MedaiTek says the Dimensity 820 is designed for sub-6GHz 5G networks in Asia, North America and Europe. According to MediaTek, the chip has the world's most advanced 5G network management.
Xiaomi Vice President and Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing recently teased a new Redmi smartphone that is rumoured to provide "super-performance". Additional connectivity features like Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11/ac are also supported on the Dimensity 820 SoC.
In the coming days, we should be seeing more Chinese manufacturers coming out with new Dimensity 820-powered smartphones.
