It took a late effort from Tiger Woods, but he and former University of Tennessee and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning defeated Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson 1-up in Sunday's The Match: Champions for Charity.

Phil Mickelson plays his shot from the first tee as Tiger Woods looks on during The Match: Champions for Charity golf round at the Medalist Golf Club.

The golf charity matchup, which raised more than $20 million for coronavirus relief funds, matches up PGA and National Football League stars.

The event, which was telecast on TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN, peaked with by drawing a total of 6.3 million viewers between 5:45-6 p.m. EDT, and drew an average of 5.8 million viewers throughout.

Brady poked fun at himself later Sunday, tweeting that his "pants wanted in on social distancing I guess".

Brady, who has a handicap of 8, hit some truly fantastic shots during his team's defeat to Woods and Manning, but there were a few moments he'd probably rather not see again.

The event comes two-and-a-half weeks before the PGA Tour plans to resume its season on 11 June.
