Shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday night, the City of Los Angeles issued a public safety alert stating that between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning the following would be exempt from the curfew: "Traveling to and from work, seeking or giving emergency care, and emergency responders".
"To increase safety for demonstrators, law enforcement and all citizens of Los Angeles, we are putting a curfew in place from 8 p.m.to 5 a.m.", the mayor wrote on Twitter.
The curfew was imposed after protesters clashed with officers outside the popular Farmer's Market near Grove.
Protests have flared up across the United States as a result, including in Los Angeles, where Ratajkowski branded a sign reading: "Dismantle power structures of oppression".

Trump blamed the extreme left for the violence, including widespread looting and arson in Minneapolis, saying rioters were dishonoring the memory of Floyd.
"We can not and must not allow a small group of criminals and vandals to wreck our cities and lay waste to our communities", Trump said.
"My administration will stop mob violence".
A Minneapolis police spokesman, John Elder, said a man's body was found near a burning vehicle early after firefighters were called to the scene.
Peaceful protests occurred too, including in Toronto as the movement spread beyond America's borders.
"A total of 533 arrests were made last night related to the protests".
She tweeted: "Is destroying an empty old cop auto or looting a target violent compared to police beating people with batons, firing rubber bullets feet from protesters and using tear gas?" Garcetti said he hopes one night of the curfew will be enough.
Protests are expected to continue even after Chauvin, the now-fired Minneapolis police officer accused of Floyd's death, was arrested and charged with third-degree murder on Friday.
