As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal.
She stated that the only thing common in both that film is the fact that they feature Diana Prince and Steve Trevor.
Wonder Woman 1984 has faced multiple delays due to coronavirus outbreak, as the government closed the theaters for safety reasons.
"In the first movie, [Diana] really is a fish out of water, coming from Themyscira into man's world, and learning about the complexities of human life, really", Gal Gadot says, talking to our sister publication Total Film magazine in their upcoming issue. "But other than that, it's a whole new world, and the era is different, and Diana is different, and the story is new", she said. "He's excited to be back with Diana".
Whether Jenkins chose to move forward with a third film and this Amazon spinoff may ultimately depend on how Wonder Woman 1984 performs when it (hopefully) hits theaters later this year. He is very excited about the world.
Gal Gadot, the star of Wonder Woman 1984, has explained why the film isn't really a sequel to Wonder Woman. Tonally, what's completely different is, he's not world-weary. As there is so much untrodden ground with Wonder Woman, fans are excited to see the next step in her journey. "He's not jaded. It's a complete 180 from the tone of the character of the first one", the actor told the publication.
"We're not starting to work on that movie right away", she continued. "I'm hoping to do this Amazon movie before we do the third Wonder Woman". She further explained, "Obviously the posters are different!"
The release date for Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed back yet again to October 2, 2020, which means fans will have to wait yet a while longer to watch their favorite Amazonian superhero take flight on the big screen. Let us know in the comment section below!
