Phil Dampier, a royal author, said: "The coronavirus crisis has taken the spotlight off Andrew for a few months, but now it's come back with a vengeance. It is so traumatising and hard for the victims not to know the truth", she told ITV's Good Morning.
"The charges set forth herein stem from the role of Ghislaine Maxwell, the defendant, in the sexual exploitation and abuse of multiple minor girls by Jeffrey Epstein", the indictment states.
In some cases, she allegedly "participated in the abuse herself".
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the British government had not been approached by U.S. authorities with requests either to assist their investigation or to help arrange an interview with the prince.
It is reported Prince Andrew was introduced to Epstein by his friend Ms Maxwell in the 1990s and continued the friendship up until 2010, but in the interview the Duke repeatedly said he was "not close" with the disgraced financier.
The socialite and daughter of late British publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell was seized at a $1million home in New Hampshire and later appeared in court by video-link.
The indictment says Maxwell "assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein's abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom and ultimately abuse victims known to Maxwell and Epstein to be under the age of 18".
"The Duke of York has offered his assistance to the DOJ investigation on a number of occasions this year", the source said.
'He has been hiding behind not only the royal family but his attorneys'. "[They] have to be especially careful about this case given its national exposure and who the parties are, and they have to be especially careful so that she gets a fair and partial jury so they're not tainted by what they see in the media", he said, adding that Jeffrey's former friends, who were potentially involved in his criminal activities, should be anxious.
Brad Edwards represents 55 women who claim they were abused by the late convicted paedophile, and friend of the royal.
He categorically denies the charge, and still maintains he doesn't remember meeting the alleged victim.
"This is a hard time for everyone involved and I am at a loss to be able to understand or explain Mr. Epstein's lifestyle", he said in August, according to The Guardian.
At a wedding in 2011, a guest who was an associate of Epstein's approached the woman and asked if she wanted to work with the financier and Maxwell again.
The 60-year-old Duke of York vehemently denies claims he had sex with a 17-year-old girl procured by Epstein.
Investigators accused Maxwell of being "one of the villains" in the Epstein case, tapping her for transfer to NY for further proceedings after she appeared in court by a video link.
